Frequently Asked Questions
Who can The Song Forge help?
Anyone with a musical inclination and a desire to be part of a the creation process! Our end to end services have something for everyone from fans to professional musicians.
Any casual player, singer or music lover can come to us with as little as an idea for a song and we will handle the rest. Even seasoned musicians and writers can use our services to help finish songs, get touring artist sit ins and various other studio services.
Where do I submit an order?
We recommend any first time users to check out our "Getting Started" link which goes over all the details you'll need. If you have done this before or know what you need, you can jump right into our "Custom Quote" form to get the process moving.
Can I use my own lyrics, instruments or vocals? What about covers?
Absolutely! We highly encourage our clients to have their own ideas for us to work with. Our goal is help you create your vision and forge it into a well developed song. However, depending on your recording setup or studio availability, you may want to get one of our artists to do the final recording for the part.
All song ideas and lyrics submitted to us MUST be original and written by you! By moving forward with us, you are agreeing that none of the song ideas or lyrics will be an infringement of copyrights of any 3rd party musician.
If you are doing a cover song, you are agreeing that any licenses, copyrights or other necessary items for distribution are obtained before coming to The Song Forge for recording.
What do your services cost?
Because of how much variety and customization goes into our services, each order/quote is personally tailored to the individual and unique. The amount of writing, song length, number of instruments and type of artist selections are some of the biggest factors.
For example, a client needing a pop/rock solo recorded is going to be vastly different from a progressive rock song we have to write/record.
What if I want a revision or change?
We pride ourselves on producing high-quality recordings and songs but we understand that it may take some revisions to get the vision we all are excited about. Music is a very subjective art so we offer 3 changes for free if they are from these categories:
-
A change to lyric, melody or chord BEFORE it is recorded
-
Revising the mix of the song
-
Revising a master of the song
Any other changes can be done but may have extra fees such as:
-
Adding or changing instruments
-
Changing lyrics, melodies, chords AFTER they were recorded
-
Major song structure changes
-
Additional mix or master edits
How long will it take to fill my order?
We always do our best to turnaround orders as quickly as possible but our focus is on quality products for our clients. There are many things that can change the timeline of an order such as artist availability, complexity of song and amount of services.
If you need priority or have a specific deadline, please let us know! Extra charges may apply.
How will I receive the end song?
The final version of the song will be emailed to you and you are free to use the track in any way you would like.
What about song copyrights?
Any song you wrote and got recorded through The Song Forge is entirely yours! You can submit copyright registration on the United States Copyright Office. If any of our musicians are asked to help write or co-write a song, then we will have documentation in place for all writers to be credited. Our full DMCA/Copyright Policy is found here.
